I meant to add, prior to living in HI, I travelled to Maui every year for about 9 years. It was the usual sailing mania for 10 days or so...

Now I kite primarily..and soley on Oahu.

amen. that is a very good suggestion. I did exactly that with HST years ago ( I believe they are still in business ).

even though I could sail in my home town, maui taught me more than a few lessons. my instructor helped a lot, it was well worth it.
