I am going there as well and was wondering the same thing. I have been there before a few years back before I kited in october and cought the tail end of a hurricane with some wind from what I remember. I would love to know if its worth brining the kites. |

I go there to surf and fly there often in my airline job and its usually hot and glassy conditions. Last week I surfed 3 days and the wind never got over 5 kts. Hurricane season is late summer and early fall so you might get a bit then. ZIH/IXT has never been hit by a hurricane but a few pass by out to sea and there will be a breeze as they go by. Its awesome for surfing !!
Check out CatchaL Ola website, then owner is Leon and hes a great guy.
Hope this helps

i just got back from 6 days in troncones, abt half an hour north of ixtapa. the wind picked up pretty decently by abt 11 every morning & blew out the surf. there are lots of left points. probably a bit light for windsurfing, but i think it would be easily kite-able. worst case scenario is you rent a longboard & surf. it was a really cool, little town - not very touristy & it felt like i was in a corona commercial.
we went down to acapulco from there & my buddy tried to kite, but not enough wind to bother.
anyone who wants lodging infor can contact me. |
