Looking for some feedback on this area for potential relocation. Prefer to sail on 85L board with 185 pound sailor and 6.0 & less sails (who doesn't). If I get 10 days out of the year I will be happy (after work hours and weekends). More than that I will be very happy. Also, anyone know what the fishing is like in the near and off shore zone. |

There's nice windsurfing at any of the many ocean beaches in the area, when the wind blows. I spent a week at Edisto Island (just south of Charleston) last month and sailed almost every afternoon with 6.9 and 114 liter board. One day was good enough for 5.8. Sometimes in the spring and fall they get a lot of wind - I've used 4.2 and 5.2 sails occasionally (I weigh 160). But if you want to maximize the typical conditions, you'll need a floaty board and 7+ meter sail.
I recently blogged about windsurfing at Edisto Island.
