Hey I'm going to Cancun for spring break March 15th and was wondering if anyone knows what the conditions are like and if there are any places to rent decent equipment or even if anyone windsurfs in Cancun? Let me know.

We went there years ago when Vela had a site up the coast. they don't get much wind there. Some north breezy days but hit or miss at best. Nice resort and fun place to visit but wouldn't expect a lot of wind. I've seen past posts about a little gear along the hotels and beaches, but I'm not sure where. Good luck (bueno suerte). Have a few shots for me! |

I went to the Cancun resort twice. Once the wind averaged 30 MPH, the other time it was more variable, but definitely over 25 MPH each day! It had been known as the light wind resort, I guess my luck. Unfortunately, it is my understanding that it blew up in a propane accident. (Several years before, it got wiped out in a hurricane.) It was started by a guy who owned a shop in Michigan and then sold to Vela. Too bad, it was fun. |
