Greetings from Sprecks in Maui.
I just got a Casio GzOne for sailing Outer Sprecks in case S*** happens out there (about one mile out and double mast high usually). I've lost my gear twice out there and did entertain thoughts of drowning, so I thought I better get a safety radio this year.
Well, today I stand up paddled to the break in outer sprecks and flipped open my waterproof phone and tried it out. No issues at all. It's cool to come out of the water and rinse your phone off with fresh water.
Any way, this seems WAY better than using zip lock bags around a regular phone. I might even take this phone out surfing if I might get a business call!
Just curious if anybody is having trouble getting rooms for rent in Maui recently?
I'm looking for a "roommate" for a self contained small studio, small, but brand new, and windsurfing/kiting in the backyard. It's got a king sized bed, granite counter tops, maple cabinets and a sandy launch in the backyard. I'd be open to some bay area folks sharing it for the year. Rent is $1100/month including utilities and available May 1. If you're interested, e-mail windsurf.maui@gmail.com
Aloha,

Justin, I recently got the same phone with possible water use in mind but haven't taken it sailing yet. Thanks for posting your experience with it. I was wondering how that would work out. I think I would probably still stash it in a plastic marine specific bag or something though, since Casio states it to be waterproof, but not to any specific depth. TS |

There are a couple of plugs on that phone for the charger and earpiece, you must make sure that they are fully seated for watertightness. Not my experience but I witnessed tragedy second hand. I keep mine in a ziplock.
Great accessory under the bridge! |
