Are you a learning Sherman Island freestyler? Need a place to practice your Shaka, Haka, Spock, Vulcan, Kingon, Borg, or any other number of moves that I can’t keep up with during the off season? Need a place to polish your gybes or just prevent getting out of sailing shape during the off-season?
Lake Washington in West Sacramento is having an open house on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Come and check it out if you live in the area. It is a great location to sail Fall, Winter and Spring as it is very near downtown Sacramento. Winter SE winds are on shore, Spring SW are side on and NW clearing winds are offshore. Three docks and a boat launch. It’s the spot where the whales made their home last spring for a short period of time. During those seasons when there is not enough time to get down to the delta, Washington is a great after work option. Sail sizes during those seasons are normally 5.7 to 7.5, 100 liter to 150 liter board for a 170 lb person. There is a club house to change in and out of your wetsuit as well.
What it has meant for me is increasing sailing days from October through March from 25 days for the previous three years total to 27 for the past year during those months.
Here is the link.
