Sorry- I don't get it. Why are you posting a boring kite vid?? And the second post is to show kiting is not boring? and the third post says " Makes me happy I'm a windsurfer". I got no beef w/ either sport. I was a commited sailboarder with emphasis on wave sailing from 1985 till 2001. I live in the Santa Barbara area but moved to Maui '86 til '90. I switched to kiting in 2001 because of how many more days I could ride C-Street, my home break. Got really tired of schlogging along on a 5.7 sail and a wave board especially after having lived in Maui. I sold all my windsurf gear to buy kite gear. I can ride waves powered up in 13 knots of wind and get jumps that would take 25-30 knots on a sailboard to reach the same height. Kiting just makes way more sense based on where I live and how I like to ride. Your mileage may vary.

tony,

may i suggest you get back in to windsurfing; modern gear will allow you to ride waves as powered as you want even in 13knts! as with kite gear, windsurf gear has developed tremendously since 2001, comparing modern kiting with 2001 windsurfing is apples to oranges. i am sure you will be shocked how much fun 13knt wave-sailing can be. oh and btw: kiters don't jump, they are 99% pulled. Ask any physicist about the difference between jumping (what a windsurfer does, requires action-reaction) and being pulled (what a kiter does, with the note that a small hop initiates the dominant pull). Saying a kiter jumps is like saying a cube rolls: both are physically almost impossible. But regardless of the physicall correctness of terms, i am sure you enjoy the view.
