Don't know that particular fin, but I've used True Ames for as long as I can remember including Dill Pivots, Pointers and the Teardrop shapes. Quality products! I have 2 TAs for each of my boards.
Don't tell anyone but I just put an old TA DP in my '08 JP wave pro 66 and it's...sweet!

Hi Jim,

Like coyotewindsurf, I have not riden the SX, but did use similar designs from TA back in the late 80s. In those days this type of design was categorized as an onshore wave fin offering a bit more drive than a true wave fin like the Enduro in light of its less swept tip and more vertical rake. I note that the SX range includes some longer fins, thereby bringing them into the freeride pool.

One thing that I would like to highlight is that the SX is made from polyester material. Although considerably less expensive than fins made from G10, they do tend to ding up far easier when coming into contact with the bottom, and in addition, their overall useful life tends to be quite a bit shorter, as the more flexible character of polyester can weaken the fin at the base by creating stress fractures. Taken to their extreme life, the fin can shear off at the base junction.

Overall, I guess a lot depends on your sailing focus, budget and the sail sizes you're considering in the matchup. For myself, I would spend more to get a fin made from G10, and side with the Enduro for a wave focus or the Convert for freeride. My two smaller boards are equipped with Enduros, and I find that they are an outstanding design for wave and B & J conditions. If freeride is your primary focus, I wouldn't let the narrower chord width of the Convert worry you, even if you want to throw some waves in the mix. Surprisingly, I often mix in some waves with my slalom fins, and they do better then you might think.

I have this in 26CM for sails 4.5--5.6

Used it quite a bit on a Tabou 3S 97L. I spoke to Chuck Ames for a recommendation for a fin for a Naish Flying Pig, It was 102L, and this was his pick, only used it a few times on the Naish but as I recall did well.

I does what it is supposted to, and I think its a good pick, now having said that, a lot would depend on your sail range, weight of sailor and the board its intended for.

I feel its a FreeStyleWave// FreeMove fin. I would pick something else for FreeStyle, but it may be suitable.
