on the fence here thinking about heading up to the Gorge for the long weekend. The wind forecast seems a little vague...you guys think it will blow good from Thursday to Sunday?

Considering how well "they" (all sources combined) forecast a few hours ahead (or even a few hours behind), I wouldn't base a trip on a forecast even a couple of days out, considering how many times we're on 3.7s when the forecasts were for 18 mph, sailing lawn chairs when the forecast was 30 mph, or even being told at noon, after hours on small sails, that it might get sailable by dusk.
That said, Thur or Fri looks windy.

The 4th is setting up to be a nuker in the desert. Upper level low crosses the state and high pressure builds behind. That's high to the west and low to the east. Portland is forecast to remain cloudy all day, and the desert will be hot.
I call 30-35 at The Wall (direction will be good with upper flow turning westerly) and the same at Arlington.

But now, in retrospect ... the best session we could scrape up "in the desert" (Roosevelt, with hundreds of our closest friends) on Thur/Fri was an hour and a half powered nicely and very consistently on a 5.7 on 95 liters towards dark on Friday. Such are the vagaries of forecasts.
OTOH, the volleyball, soccer, and bocce ball went very well, and Friday cooled off very pleasantly.

Perfect weather for mowing the lawn and getting all my recyclables ready to take to the transfer station.... also got the garden looking very nice and garage all organized. Geesh... what a great no-wind holiday weekend, got lots done, but sure do miss those RELIABLE winter east winds !!

Speaking of which ... what happened to the less reliable but still fairly frequent late-Aug-thru-Oct east winds we used to get?

this weekend was (is) crap for wind, be glad you did not drive from SF for this sh*t.
East wind was last saturday, 5.2 to 4.7 at rooster, needed bigger sail cause the river was so high....dalton wood have been better.
