How long is the sailing season at Lopez? I would have to guess
that it's a thermal that drives the place. Would there be a good chance
of getting wind in September?

Thanks
Evan

I've always found wind there in September. However, I find the wind to be swirly when the lake level drops below 70%.

Is the entry fee still as steep as it was when I tried to drive in there in fhe late '80s to eat my lunch ... $78? That's one of the reasons I haven't been back to CA for 20 years.

No we went there in June and they charged us like $5 per sailor (even tho we had 5 boards and about 10 rigs). The wind was really crappy, felt like sailing on a pond compared to Lake Isabella.

When there is fog on the coast and heat in the valley wind blows nicely through the canyon. Fee is $9 for the day for one person and $3 for additional person and board. This shot is from 2 weeks ago, 18mph 7.0 and 124L and 145L boards. Photo by Bob Canepa, SLO.
