Lake Champlain and waterstarting...wtf am I doing wrong?

Yes, I forgot to mention that I started in the shallows with my feet on the sandy bottom.

Thanks for the advice guys, it makes much more sense and I'm excited to go back and try.

In fact, while the first attempts were a clusterf..k, towards the end I realized that I could put pressure on the mast foot (by pushing the boom down/away) I could move the board off the wind. But I am still lacking the control.

Oh well, definitely excited for more windy fall conditions!

Think of the water start as having three parts.
1st flying the sail (getting it out of the water and in proper position)
2nd controlling the board with the sail once it is flying
3rd getting on the board itself

Sent you a message regarding treadwell bay sailing but I am not sure if the message ever went any where. Still shows in my out box
