We had awesome wind for Hatteras Wave Fest FreeForm sessions with 7 straight days of strong NE wind! However, our luck ran out for the Wave Challenge contest window, as the low pressure which brought tropical storm conditions during the middle of last week, killed the wind as it moved inland. The result was big surf, and no wind for the contest window. Crying or Very sad

However, the fest lives on! The Wave Challenge has been rescheduled for the weekend of Oct 11 - 13 (Columbus Day weekend). Very Happy Location/time is fluid to offer the best wavesailing conditions for the wind/wave forecast that weekend. Be sure to remain tuned into the OBX Beach Life Forum, and the Hatteras Wave Fest web site for up to the minute details!

If you missed the Hatteras Wave Fest FreeForm sessions, you still have a shot for the contest! Registration is required, so if you will be here Columbus Day weekend, sign up today!

I just wanted to let everyone know, the contest period forcast is lining up great for a few days of fun (probably not insane) wave sailing! I'm predicting waist to head high surf, and sails in the 5.0 to 5.5 range for most normal sized people, so it should just be plain old fun sailing! Chances are, side off, down the line, port tack conditions (opposite direction from ho'okipa style sailing).

The contest is designed for ALL ability levels, with newB to pro level sailing brackets, so sign your self up and get your butts here! We've got lots of prizes to give away to contestants, including DaKine Harnesses, GoPro Video cameras, a Simmer Wave Sail, and CASH! Booya!

Seeee y'all out there! Very Happy Very Happy
