I thought I would post a quick report for those Windsurfers interested in my impressions of sailing in Delray since I moved down here on Saturday Nov. 29th.
My first day out was an awesome one - Nov. 30 Sunday. I sailed from 10am to 2pm. Started on a 5.3 and 2006 Fanatic Free Wave 88 board and quickly went down to a 4.5 which was still overpowered at times. Luckily I "got used to it" as the wind started to moderate at teh end of the day. A causal observer with a wind meter say 33 kts on the beach. It was nice to be pretty much all alone on the water as this beach is normally kite city.
The next weekend was barely sail-able with very occasional planing out on a 5.7 an 2006 98 liter Fanatic free wave.
This week Dec. 9 and 10 followed the same pattern with just enough wind to lure me out but no real love from the wind gods.
Today Dec. 11 i was redeemed with good wind and finally solid planing in a building breeze again on the same 5.7 / 98 liter Fanatic combo. Choppy waves died a bit as the breeze came on but it was a great session.
I look forward to checking out Boynton and Jupiter in teh near future and would love to hear from other windsurfers in the area as to what was happening recently and where they like to go. |

Platt-
I'm sailing a bit north of you, around Fort Pierce. We had the same type of situation this week - enough wind, at least in the forecast, to lure me away from work, but not enough to do much on the water. Tuesday at the Ft. Pierce N jetty it was non-planing on 6.6 and 106 liter board, except when riding a wave. Wednesday was about 2 knots windier, so I could plane on the same setup, but didn't really have the juice to jump. Today iwindsurf called for 28 mph, but it was more like 10-17. I was underpowered on 5.8.
You should go to the "inlet to inlet" race this weekend in Ft. Lauderdale.
