Well I finally got out on the Indian River yesterday. The winds were rather crappy, but I wanted to do some sailing no matter what. I swear the winds were blowing quite strongly when I arrived at the launch and continued while I was rigging my gear. However, when the mast top strap snapped on the first sail, and I had to rig a second, I thought the winds abated seriously. The archived graphs seem to confirm this. Then after putting up around 5 p.m. the winds appeared to increase. Just my luck. Whatever, I had some fun. It was near low tide and as you fellas informed me, the waters were rather shallow. In fact, I really didn't realize that the Indian River was so shallow. Furthermore, the water was remarkably warm. I sailed in board shorts and a long sleeve rash guard which was fine. Back on Cape Cod I know they are freezing their butts off. Unfortunately, it looks like there will be more wind today here. Nevertheless, I have found that the weather conditions in Fla. that creat these high winds with thunder and lightening are much more violent than those we experience on Mass.

Perhaps the Florida Gods are more annoyed with you than the Massachusetts Gods.

Where on the Indian River are you sailing? If it's tidal, you must be near an inlet.
