You will almost never see supportable ice in December in Eastern Ma. I'm wondering how the Baffin Bay looks. Smile

We realize the ice isn't sailable this time of year, but did it snow on top of ice, thereby ruining it for free skates when it does get solid, or was the lake still liquid, in which case it can still freeze clean?

Can you see it from your fourth floor balcony, Swifty? After all, if Palin can see Russia from her living room, then you can probably see Baffin Bay from your balcony.

I drove by on Wednesday. It looked wet and slick. If only we could get a few days and nights of freezing temperatures that surface would be sweet.

Oliver, you must not know all that much about the weather and outdoor ice surfaces in New England. More often than not there can be a thaw that turns the surface to water before you have seriously supportable ice. Current Weather I'm also curious about your use of the royal we. Are you placing yourself in the Oneup (or shithead's) camp? [/u]

hi my friend, my friend oliver ment we as in oliver and i are up from nasua nh. we got our lakes and ponds buried with so much powder they will probably be wreked the rest of the year for ice sailing. i wasnt asking if the lake in wakefield was safe, i just wanted to know if it was open. hopefully not supporting all that powder so when it freezes it might have a chance of being quality ice. we dont live close to wakefield so we were hoping you guys could let us know how it looks. thanks

Whatever, I doubt if anyone reading this is visiting the lake, now, but I would guess it isn't supporting a cover. I've travelled from Ma. to N.H. enough times to realize that there's a snowline at the border.
