there is a shop in sarasota that rents stuff, island style water sports. I was there last year didnt rent from them but bought an uphaul and some other small stuff. I did walk back behind the store with a guy that works there and they had a whole lot of old boards, and some newer decent stuff to rent. dont expect the best but they should be able to get you on the water. Sarasota has got 2 good launches close to the store. good in N, NE,E,andS winds, good crowd of regulars too.

There is Ace Performer here is his website you can find out how to get there here http://www.aceperformer.com/ It's off mcgregor. The owners name is Roy he's a pretty nice guy. I think his hours were 10am-2pm M-F and 12-2 sat sun. On the weekend though he has some other guy working there. If he's not there he's probably out at the sanibel causeway, and will more than likely have some rig with him. He drives a big blue van
