has anyone ever sailed HMB with the sun out?
i've had some very enjoyable sessions there but never when it wasn't an unfit day out for man nor beast. |

Pescadero. 5.3 and 85l. Was 4.7 earlier but I did not dare to go before other sailors showed up. That place is really bad..ass, the wave is super fast. |

^ Wind direction is all across the map and crissy doesn't look promising showing 4knots right now today. HMB is still the call for me. |

Wind at the buoys looked like strong SE, but here at OB, the wind was offshore, and there was not a whitecap in sight. The HMB sensor started coming up around 1:30 or so, and Berkeley was reading pretty good (but it always reads high). Got an OSR from Berkeley, and it had just died, so I started driving to HMB, and then the sensor dropped to 10, so I headed home and watched some more hoops for another hour. HMB came back up to 17, so I made the drive, and there was one guy out and a whole bunch of others waiting. Rigged 5.3 and took a 97l freestyle board. By the time I hit the water, I kind of wished I had rigged 4.7... sailed w/ the 5.3 for about half an hour, and it was just about right. As the wind died, I noticed my uni tendon was cracked, so I came in, and the wind completely died.
Everybody check your universals... mine easily could have broken during my last sesh... and I was at Crissy... that would've sucked. _________________ Kevin Kan

Yesterday was 3 weekends in a row of 5.0 sailing at Doran...Not bad for a weekend warrior! |

Bailed on HMB today and headed to Oyster Point instead around 3:30 and it was blowing 27 - 30. Rigged my 5.0 85L freestyle/wave and got about four long reaches but the wind quickly died while I was way out but managed to get back in and completely (just barely) making pass the pier with huge swells/breaks to reach the boat ramp - whewwwww. |
