VERY intriguing! The cold hands issue has been the limiting factor in my cold-weather windsurfing, and cracking that nut could really extend my season. Just might have to try one of these!

Two tricks I've used in the past for getting across-the-shoulders drysuit zippers open and closed without assistance:
1. If you have an aftermarket roofrack (Yakima, Thule, etc) with bars that are somewhere near shoulder-level, just loop your zipper-pull over a crossbar end and spread your arms wide as you move your body to pull the zipper.
2. Use a spare couple feet of downhaul line, webbing, whatever with a hook or carabiner of some sort on one end. Hook that to your zipper-pull and you can pull the string with your far arm. Just un-clip from the zipper-pull once you're in. When done sailing use the same thing to get unzipped, and just leave it clipped to the zipper so it's there for you next time.
It's really pretty easy with either of these methods. And yes, a little zipper lube applied once or twice a season will definitely make that zipper run smoother and last longer. The zipper has always been the first thing to go on drysuits I've owned, but can be replaced for a fee far less than the cost of a new drysuit. |

i just remember having a dry zip before, it was almost impossible to close myself, but it was a plastic one. it ended up getting damaged and unusable.
hopefully these ones are a bit more user friendly, and durable.
i just ordered the suit. hope it really works, as cold hands have definitely been the limiting factor for me in cold weather.
this is the video Iain sent me about self opening and closing the zipper.

spider..

as far as my experience so far..
http://www.windsurfcanada.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2102&start=15
ive used it three times so far.
as far as fit, i ordered the large.
im 5'11'', 210lbs, 49''chest, 36''waist..
i find the waist and chest snug, but not tight, and a bit more room in the shoulders. you can feel the tubes in the shoulders and arms, but it not annoying at all.
the legs are a bit long for me, so the suit bunches up a little around the knees, but its not a big deal.
ive used it in weather cold enough that my sail was icing up, and i was still warm.
i bought the nylon one for more durability, and it seems warm enough for me. _________________ i like longboards. |
