Thought I would post this in the unlikely event that the incoming tide carries the rig ashore. Rig snapped off at the base, and the board shot away downwind. Includes: Old 5.3 sail which is distinguished by a patch repair, extension has marked settings (5.3 strong, 5.3 moderate), older basic mast, decent boom with adjustable harness straps.
Thank you to the board sailor who kept his eye on me until I made it ashore. |

Waterstarting, stumbled on a floating underwater Flying Dutchman rig and brought it to shore, so that nobody would snag it at speed.
Could be yours, but park rangers must have thrown it away already - lots of marine life eating it.

Thanks for the posting. I don't think there would have been much left to salvage after one year. The equipment was used equipment borrowed from a friend or bought at swap meet. I was just starting out at the time. Nothing very valuable. My friend was kind enough to feign concern that I was OK, rather than focusing on the loss of old stuff he was not using.
I bought new stuff last year. I am not sure this is the same rig, but it was fun to recall last year's adventure ("What the $%#@?!!"). That which does not kill you, makes you smarter.
Great pictures. Good of you to remove this navigational hazard. |
