At one other time I had a sturgeon jumping out next to me in TI. It was kind a freaky, as I did not have an idea at that time what it was.

Ouch!

Last year somebody had a nasty encounter (blown up knee) with a flying sturgeon at The Gorge...read tweeky and isobar's messages in this thread...

I've seen a sturgeon jumping out of the water near the Berkeley pier two years ago, it was 3-4 feet long and jumped up pretty high, maybe a foot over the water.

The coolest however I've ever seen was a surfing seal last year at TI when the swell was huge. I couldn't believe it. It had two runs on the same wave.

Guess we are lucky here on Lake Champlain. Only Champy and an occasional white tail deer swiming by.

How's this for a 'Nessy' sighting at Sherman Island. I found this pic on the web (I think it is at the Powerlines). The authorities did a pretty good job at herding all the windsurfers and kiters out of the way when the two whales made a sudden bolt to the bay on a busy Sunday. They passed by so fast and most of us didn't actually see the whales.

I've also had a sturgeon leap out in front of me and almost sailed into a large sea lion at Sherman in the past.
