|
|
I just got this gear from a friend and am looking to sell all of it, but I don't know how much any of it is worth since I don't windsurf. I was hoping if I posted some pictures here on the forums that you could possibly identify what the boards and sails are, and about how much they are worth.
I know nothing of what to take pictures of other than the information about the sails on the bags. It was rainy outside when we took the sail pictures so they couldn't be taken out of the bag. All of the sails are in good to excellent condition.
Any help would be extremely appreciated! Here are the pictures:

Your friend did not do you a favor. This equipment is worth next to nothing. I couldn't do it, but your best hope is to put it on EBay and see if a sucker will buy it.
This stuff is equivalent to buying a computer from 1993.
Sorry.

yeah, I know its old stuff. We traded about $500 worth of stuff for it too...so I would at least like to try to get that back out of it. Suits us for not knowing anything I suppose
Any other help would be appreciated

Ok, I'll try to be a little more helpful. Of the three boards, the West Wind might be worth something, but probably not. The other two boards are complete junk. All of the equipment comes from the early 90's (for the life of me, I don't know why manufacturers never put dates on the stuff, but resale might be the reason), maybe 91-93 or so. None of this equipment will work with modern gear (post '99-01).
Where do you live? Is there a thriving windsurfing community? You can try to post it on the Buy/Sell section of iwindsurf or a local swapmeet. But seriously, your best shot is EBay. It's not my intention to be a jerk, but noone with any modest knowledge of windsurfing will buy this equipment. You will need to cast a wide net. Someone might buy some of your stuff as a souvenir. I'm sorry to say that you will not likely retrieve your $500.

I agree with Victor. At a swap meet you might get $100 for the West Wind board. And if you found the right person they might pay $50 for the Neil Pryde board, which they'd put up on a wall as an antique.
The booms are worthless. The sails nearly so. At a swap meet you might find someone looking to put together a dirt cheap beginner set up who'd give you $25 for one of those sails, and perhaps the mast. Unfortunately it's entirely possible that you won't be able to sell any of it. Sorry for the bad news.

Well thanks for the good info. I didn't think you were being a jerk at all and appreciate what knowledge you have. There is a small windsurfing community where I am, but not much since I am inland. $500 isn't really a lot to loose in this situation, but it still pisses me off the guy did it to us.
Would it just be better to keep it and try to windsurf on it? Thanks again
