Rowena - the only thing I remember about Blazing Saddles is the campfire scene. Not sure where you are going with the Gene Wilder thing.
Nealpar - if nothing else we all know you are some piece of work. You can dish it out, but you sure can't take it. How do you walk with 15ft of mast up your butt?
TheQ - stay cool and never give up. let's go surfing!
DaBull1 - You are wise beyond your years my brother and always well intentioned.
Mkrassner - Where you been? |

JPBassking,
Dude, sorry, an explanation is in order...
You threatened to find a small town and move away from the big, bad city. I'm just warning you what's out there in the hinterlands.
Uh, oh. I might get feedback for that.... |

JPBassking, I have nothing against gay men, but it's sad when they parade around pretending otherwise. Your baking cookies and mast in the ass references obviously reflect your hobbies and interests. I almost had compassion for you for being forced to sit out some sweet, epic, summer days at Leo, but it appears that compassion is not what you need at the moment to put you out of your misery. I know some people who can hook you up babe, mast included, you dirty nasty lil' boy. |

Local folks here must clearly have some history outside the windsurfing picture, or maybe it's being exacerbated by their actual history in it. While I've been candid in my comments, I think I might lack a certain sense of prespective on the personalities here.
Really, that is less of my real concern here. Most of the time at Leo, I hang outside, because Leo has a great open ocean character outside that's fun to tap into, if its happening. Nevertheless, I like to take advantage of a wave or two coming in, because I have a long history of riding the waves in some world class locations, and I like to mix it up a bit on occasion.
Yet, the actual truth is that I much rather run with a top class slalom board than dog around on a wave board. But don't let that fool you, I could style on a door of sorts and still be in the right places on such simple waves for a little fun.
The "wave attitude" of some so called "hardcore wave" folks is so trying sometimes, particularly coming from such a lightweight venue. If you amp up the power, criticality and dimensions of things a bit, I'm sure many would be wearing their "chicken suit". Nothing more realistic than regularly buying new masts, booms and sails to get your attention, particulary if you're not sponsered. Really, no true offense here, as sensible folks often have to wear their "chicken suits" too, including yours truly.
Yet, let's be serious, Leo is traditionally not a world class wave venue in the windsurfing world. It can be fun, yes, but let's be realistic. As long as folks are reasonably respectful and cooperative in their focus on things, all can enjoy. It's important to share (even with kiters), and lose some of the prejudices and predetermined concepts of what's appropriate to have fun. |

Eileen,
Come on down! We could use some more female energy.
Check out our resident "soft-bellied 50 year olds" and tell me what you think.
As I said, I think they're kinda cute with a little padding...
As for our dialogue, got a lot more fun when the recent kiter swarm moved on. Unfortunately, it was probably because the wind did, too.
Look for posts by Theq. When he gets all philosophical, it gives us all pause, and we begin to examine ourselves not longer as mere windsurfers trying to decide whether to snake a wave, but as small specks in the vast anthropological mess that is mankind...

Damn, you guys are GOOD!!!! Ageism, sexism, homophobia, gender roles, false accusations, viscious lies and rumors all rolled into one soft bellied, fuzzy, love fest! Theq has shredded us all by quoting Shakespeare on a W/S forum! No wonder we attract luminaries to our little corner of Hell... Oh Blond Wind, wherefore art thou? Bull PS, What was the original topic anyway? |

The original topic was Q's Utopian vision of Leo. Oh well.
Zephyrus and Notus willing, there won't be time to contribute to this topic anymore. However, in parting, let me share some juvenile jokes that I found to be...somehow....so apropos.
From a surf jokes library:
"Yo board is so big, you need a chart to plan your next turn".
"Yo surfing is so ugly, the sharks draw straws".
Just had to. |
