Hey group mind, what's the lowdown on Port Hueneme sailing in Santa Ana conditions? I remember the late Ron Azoff used to tell me that the second day, in the AM, was a great time to sail PH. Any thoughts, but please, NO PREDICTIONS [avoid invoking the wind skunkie factor]. Bull

Go early.
Make sure Leo is over 30 NNE.
Park in last parking lot and work your way up to the factory.
Early is best after 10am gets pretty gusty.

At noon check C-street as it will blow WNW there: sideshore adn this can be good sailing.

Early means in the water 8am. Bring small sails it can get over 40MPH.

Fave Fun!

I predict that it will be so windy that your face will be permanently blown behind your skull.

I have sailed there many times on my 3.2 which would equated to 2.5 for most guys. 7 am is optimal. If there is big surf you are riding them parallel to the shore. If the wind drops you will swim. The water is very cold, and your knuckles will drag on the ground afterwards.

It worked really well when I was in my 30's. Guys in your 50's, don't bother. Leo is 40-60 right now. Rolling Eyes

C-street sounds intriguing for an afternoon sesh.

WHERE IS SWCHANDLER, Mr. "it's a mystery why nobody ever comes to my part of town" when we actually need his input?

The question we need to ask ourselves is whether the Santa Ana winds will readily back down this afternoon. It's my understanding that the wind event we're experiencing is quite strong, and it's forecasted to play out until Tuesday afternoon.

Unfortunately, the direction indicator at C Street hasn't been working for some time now, so that makes it tougher to get a clear picture of things because the Oxnard site can hang tough with Northeasterlies while C Street can experience westerlies.

Under the circumstances, if afternoon windspeeds increase at C Street the chances are pretty good that winds will be westerly in nature. Of course, no promises. However, Ledbetter is showing 13mph out of the SW, and that can be considered as a positive sign.

The bummer from a Santa Barbara perspective is that today is Sunday, and the southbound traffic returning to LA can be a real pain as the afternoon moves on.

Hey Dude!

That's totally awesome! I mean, you must be styling big time. The Northeasteries must be so readily off the top for that trick guy that has his act together on the Malibu coast.

So maybe you'll report your conquests. Surely, we'll all be stoked!
