One ps. I am indebted to Isobar for using the term ad hominem so often that I had to look it up. If means an appeal to prejudice, not reason. Umm--like calling Democrats socialists at every opportunity? Takes one to know one, ad hominen bar.

"The one ironic note is that when we invaded Iraq, Iran was far more of a threat. It is unfortunate that we've so spent our military in Iraq, and abandoned the reconstruction of Afghanistan that might have better positioned use to pressure Iran. "

Indeed, Sadam was once an ally against Iran. Ho Chi Minh was once an ally against the Japanese. The lesson here? Don't be a friend to the United States. At least, that is what it appears.

Hmm, this morning's news is how big oil managed to retain their share of $21 billion in energy subsidy. Hmm, big oil funds the right-wing sites that claim global warming is a hoax. Hmm, big oil lobbyist was the US representative to Kyoto. Hmm, Bush family wealth tied to petroleum. Do you think that there is any relationship among these things? Do you think we might want to investigate the financial ties of the sources before we believe what their lobbyists and lawyers say? Do you think their fight for continued subsidy without restrictions in the way of carbon dioxide fees has anything to do with the Bush administration's policies? Naw. It's all a hoax, and a left wing conspiracy to sap the manhood of this brave country. Carbon on!

Bad week for me? Au contraire.
1. Once again science has shown GW alarmism’s idiocy by reminding us that arctic ice cap melting is driven by ocean currents, not atmosphere temperatures, and that melting arctic ice cap does not raise sea levels.
2. The surge is increasingly effective.
3. The leaders of the Democrat Party were shown to have approved waterboarding and encouraged worse five years ago.
4. Hillary admitted she wants to raise investment taxes by 300%.
5. Mac has again lied to all of you in print with the proof right there in front of us, making his side look ever more foolish and this group even more complicit for allowing it.

Sorry, guys, but I’ve simply lost respect for myself for continuing to participate in these “discussions”. I expected all the irrelevant, baseless personal attacks, aka ad hominem; they are part and parcel of the Left, and I’m used to them. But when I’m the only person in a group willing to challenge them for denigrating our soldiers (Mac, Swchandler), for blatantly and repeatedly lying about what others have said [Mac, even after I wrongly defended his veracity twice (maybe it WAS he, not PBS, that lied)], and for totally disregarding facts (some Lefties have actually stated facts mean nothing), I lose respect for everyone in that group, including myself.

See ya in the sailing threads.

You guys refused to define the “greed” you and the rest of the Left are whining about. I think a definition is emerging from your discussions and your Party’s goal: demanding that those who earned more money give it to you.

If you people want more money, get it the same way the vast majority of wealthy people do it: get more education, work harder, buy less bling, invest, and pray that the huge Democrat tax increases don’t destroy the economy.

Don't go Iso, where else will we find someone who can write complete sentences and actually believes Fox News isn't right wing biased? It was just your bad luck to stumple into a bunch of left leaning SoCal posters which is pretty hard to do considering almost all windsurfers are white Republican males. And you can't possibly be worried that Hillary or Obama would win a national election. (If W ran against Hillary in '08 he would win.) A lot of my right wing coworkers are also worried about a possible democrtic president but it's very unlikey. The Republicans figured out the race card a long time ago and even long time blue states like Michigan are about to turn red. Kansas doesn't believe in evolution and Texas is headed that way. And the war mongering tends always keeps the right on top. Also, according to a recent Gallup poll 45% of respondents believe that the earth was formed in its present state 10,000 yrs ago. Think those geniuses are liberals?? Me either........

Don't forget the Ikitesurf form, plenty of neo nazis over there.....

I think I'm beginning to understand much more about isobar's game. He lives in Washington where there is no income tax, and most of us in California know that situation doesn't exist here. So what's his pitch?

If you listen to what he's really saying about the Federal government, he's perfectly willing to spend dollars and lives of others in another part of the world to further his hardcore ideals and strategies. Yet, is that right?

Is he interested in spending and investing here in the US where the future really matters for most real Americans? I have to believe, almost nothing is coming from his direction!

I'd bet that he buys most taxable items in Oregon where they have no sales tax. It's only a "me" world for this rightwing ideologue.

This guy's trying to fly as low as you can to get under the radar. He's really not interested in investing in the US here at home. If the truth was told, he's simplly selfish in nature. It's all cloaked in this rightwing BS to advance a foolish bankrupt "screw everybody else type" plan that gets him "off the hook" for anything but his goofy mantra. It's completely clear to me that he doesn't want to contribute to a living society, which will always include some low key "I don't care about being responsible folks".

Like the guy actually cares about crafting a practical world. I wouldn't look for any kind of compassion from this dude! This guy would love to flush his opposition and all other "perceived losers" out of his reality.

Frankly, I can't be impressed by isobars. One only has to listen to his diatribe to structure and understand his selfish game. "It's only about me".

Maybe he will just abandon the scene here like he suggests and leave us alone.

Boy, that's an optimistic fantasy!

Windoggie said what I thought. But as the best bumper sticker I've seen says, "Wag more, bark less."

I do love that sticker...I wag as much as possible. I wag even when I really don't feel like it. Some times ol windoggie lets out a bark, but I mostly wag when I'm doing it. Mostly.

Isobars is either in the military industrial or oil game, or a party pol. He never responds directly to a fact, either can't quote a source accurately, or simply misrepresents them all. He accused me of lying when I simply quoted his guy Singer in an interview to point out that he didn't say what Isobars had said he had. That was the second time I had caught Isobar in a lie. Now that the CIA agent who caught the guy says it's torture, its the Democrats fault. Now I'm not enamored with a lot of them, but I'm not really the socialist (or liar, or miltary basher) that Isobars claims. He acts exactly like the oil lobbyists I've known, and the Bush party line--stay on message, it's all Hillary's fault. Every veteran I know, and a strong majority of those currently in, hate what Bush has done in the Middle East. After all, his guys sent too few, poo poohed the need for armor in an IED world, and turn down benefits to injured victims. If you want to know what the military thinks of the war, read "Fiasco", the author talked to dozens.

Now if you want to know about Isobars problems, think fear. That's what is behind most bad behavior. Does he even know what he's afraid of? I don't think its socialism. Hmmm.
