Has anyone ever sailed at the Sparks Marina? It is my understanding that they have been improving the park and I heard advertisements even feature someone sailing. It would be nice to have an alternative to Washoe Lake. Thanks. |

realistically the Sparks marina sucks as a windsurfing site. The wind is extremely gusty- I'm talking laying there unable to fly the sail and 30 yards away 20 MPH wind-truly! It also is too small. I have promised myself I'll never go out there again. Washoe is best by far- prey for a wet winter so we have plenty of water. when it's deep, it even gets decent chop. Lahonton is second best. then there is a lttle saling at Donner, Boca-Stampede and then occasional north days at Pyramid. Pyramid gets Massive rollers when it's good-like the third ave chanel. A few uphaulers go out midsummer at Sparks- I feel bad for them though. |
