The raffle is a brilliant idea. |
Yes, special thanks for those who donated equipment to raffle.
Rather than give $100, would people who already gave have bought 10 raffle tickets instead? It might be a nice gesture to give everyone who donated cash a ticket and give Mo and Steve one for their efforts too and you for making the stickers.
How far are we? I asked someone at Palo Alto yesterday if they donated yet and they said "not yet." I suggested they hurry up since time is running out.
BTW, yesterday was a schlogfest across the bay and back then out again back on my big board and a 7.5. Just not enough with to maintain a plane with the flood.

I do not have the exact totals, but we are very very close.
It is looking very good now.

Major kudos to Maureen, Jane, Rebecca, and to everyone who helped spread the word, and to everyone who donated to the Coyote Point temporary ramp fund!
Here's the word from this morning -- from Sam Herzberg at San Mateo County:
"Work is tentatively expected to start this Wednesday April 16, 2008,
and last for two weeks. The contractor is Hanford/ARC who have built
similar windsurf ramps in the Bay Area. Thank you all for your patience
and support!
Sam"

Many thanks to Sam, the park staff at Coyote Point, the San Mateo County Parks and Recreation Foundation and the SFBA. They have supported windsurfers and this project from the beginning.
Even more responsible for the project's success are those who donated to the cause. Thanks to you, Coyote will remain a usable windsurf launch until the permanent beach front renovation begins.
Things are definitely looking better for Coyote!

I think I put you at the top of the thanks list. Thanks at least for telling me about it as I may not have known if you had not chased me down on the one day I was at Coyote Pt in the past month.
Will we be allowed to use the park to launch when water level returns while they are building the ramps?
I've had it with walking my gear in thru mud from the end of the swimming area where I hit my fin the last time I sailed on a minus tide last month. I'll wait for more water to battle gusty wind.

I dunno Kirk. My best guess is yes since the ramps will be installed at either extreme end of the windsurf area according to the plans I've seen.
Hopefully we'll have an answer tomorrow.

Looks like things are happening at the upwind end of the launch. Tools are in place and a bit of sand has been tossed...
