In response to what are standards I believe that means that the testing procedures to get the 30 day grade (at least 4 tests for each category with a quantifiable result ) have been met. So the D is bad... real bad, javascript:emoticon('') and Nealpar is right about the risks. People in Malibu have gotten infections in their heart that antibiotics cant cure- one guy had to have a transplant so it is nothing to trifle with. i vote that we all sail at Broad which does get tested just below Trancas and has a B now. Not sure if I trust county since they don't test there? I heard that there was a sewage spill from the bathrooms at Leo was it fixed ? As fun as sailing is, its not worth losing your health for one session. |

What? To join you in team Leo Diarrrhio? No thanks.

I've figured it out. The D rating is because Mitch wee-wees in his wetsuit and is there almost every day. That has to add up. |

Zuma Jay is a great guy, very knowledgable about community issues. Yes, I think you must be a Malibu resident to vote, but if you have $10 million lying around, buy a McMansion and vote for him.
I wonder how long the bathrooms at Leo were "leaking" before it was noticed? That stinks. Gives new meaning to the term, "bottom turn".
And BillyTres is correct. Surfrider has had horrible water over the years because of the runoff from Malibu Canyon, among other reasons. Surfers have actually died from bacterial and viral matter in the water. Sadly, I don't think it's wise to sail at Leo when there's a D rating.
Mulholland... Are you sure you want to be responsible for another political rant? Just warning you... |

Spoke to Tom the head lifeguard at Leo today. He believes the D rating is due to the manner in which the samples are collected by the County people, and not due to any runoff or plumbing issue. He said that Leo has tidal pools that other beaches don't, and bird excrement collects in those pools, and the samples taken by the County reflect the bird fecal accumulation. He noted that the creek is dry and he knows of no pipe breakages.
Ahum. OK.
Since I'm an animal lover...............I'd say I'll drink bird poo over human poo anyday... Gulp..... ....but what about that bird flu thing?..... |

Not too get too paranoid, but birds really are filthy. Bird intestines are where really dangerous viruses live, like the ebola virus, for example, West Nile, and flu viruses. The reason many truly horrible viruses are spread across oceans is often because of migratory birds. Mosquitos then transfer the viruses to humans. Just google "viruses spread by birds" to make yourself really paranoid. You may not ever eat chicken again. |

Oops. nice grammar...
Add Avian Flu virus to the list, too. Maybe when Samuel L. said "A pig is a filthy animal" in Pulp Fiction he actually meant birds. |

When you suggest such asinine things as corporate greed is causing government controlled waste to be spilled into the ocean, you just sound like a total neo-socialist twat...Waste off the California coast is the responsibility of big-brother and the monstrous, bloated and inefficient socialist controlled bureaucraies in California...just like New Orleans, and every other Democrat district in America, the infrastructure is crap, the roads are crap, and the bureaucrats are self-interested union scumbags who care about nothing other than ripping off the taxpayer.
Sub-prme lending problem is really insignificant, less than 5% foreclosures. Enron is child's play next to government waste, graft and accounting irregularities...The government makes corporations look like saints comparitively...If the scumbags in political power were corporate chieftans, they would be in prison for multiple life-terms.
Yet idiots bow down to big-daddy government and continue to blame the bogey-man of the corporate world for every ill...typical Marxian bullshit.
