I am planning a trip to Barbados for the end of May. So, I was wondering where is a good place to stay and where is a good place to rent equipment.
Thanks for any info that you can give! |

My wife and I did a Barbados vacation in Feb 06. We stayed at Silver Sands. They have rental gear and Brian Talma's rental shop is a short walk from the hotel.
Silver Sands is inexpensive and not to upscale, but had all the amenities needed, gear, pool, food, rum punches, nightly entertainment.
There is a new hotel next door, Silver Points. It looks much more upscale and is also on the windsurf beach.
The neat thing about Barbados, we thought, is that it is somewhat different than many destinations. The local scene and the tourist mix it up a lot, rather than resorts protected from reality.
The trip we took was during the expected windy season but we did not get even one day of sailing. Not even marginal. But, it was still one of the best windsurf trips I have ever taken. There is a lot to do, great food, great rum, boating, diving, and don't miss the Friday night fish fry at Oistins.
We will go again and hope for wind. |
