INFORMAL CONTEST

Attention Cali sailors…Sunday April 27th I will be holding an informal contest at Waddell Creek. This is open to sailors of all ages and ability levels, feel free to come out, have fun, and hang out with friends while taking part in a little friendly competition and earn some bragging rights. This will be judged by a panel of your peers.

1. There will be no entry fee, or formalities of any kind. This is purely for the fun of competing and the company of fellow sailors. There is also no set contest area which means that there will most likely be people freeriding in the area we are holding it.
2. There are no concessions, so bring your own food/beer etc.
3. This is not a sponsored event…that means that you are sailing at your own risk. I don’t mean to sound like an ass but this gets around the whole insurance thing. Basically we are a bunch of sailors hangin out enjoying a Sunday on the beach.
4. It doesn’t matter what level sailor you are, you can still compete. All of you who feel like it can email me with your name and ability level and I will work you in accordingly…the rest of you just show up.
5. There will be 3 categories.
Mens
Womens
Open Class (sailors of all levels, abilities, ages)

The competition will consist of 2 categories, wave riding and best jump or gybe.
Depending on how many people we have, the heats might be as short as 8 minutes, or as long as 20.
Bring a surfboard, if it ain’t windy it won’t be run.
Come with a positive attitude as this is being done for the fun, please no complaining, this isn’t costing you anything.

Feel free to write me with questions, comments. Hope you can make it and look forward to a fun day.

Nice idea.

I'd love a special award for biggest gouge taken out of fin sailing too close to the rocks like an idiot, I believe I am supremely qualified to win....

Whit- Sounds like fun- I will help out, bring some food items, if the wind picks up. Hoping for a swell/windy time.

Thanks ernie, that would help...

On another note, I will be at the beach at about 10. As far as the timing on this goes, it is pretty dependent on when the wind wants to show up, but as soon as it does we will start doing some heats. For those of you that can't make it early/arrive late, etc. you will get worked in so no worries.
