Weird wind yesterday but a still beautiful day at the Point. The only folks really tearing it up were the Formula types. And tearing it up was exactly what one of them did!

One of the above (not mentioning any names, 246) elicited angry screams and jeers from the crowd (which easily could have turned into a mob) of angry fishermen at fisherman point as he tore through their lines at mach2 on a broad reach just yards from the water's edge. The screaming and cursing was easily heard all the way to the windsurf parking lot.

Good job! Makes windsurfers look like fine citizens.

I remember doing the same thing when I was 15.. I thought it was fun at the time but apparently some do not grow up Smile

I still get entangled time to time but with kite lines not fishermen's... that's probably why kiters like fishermen hate our guts !!!

On that good note, see ya'll at Waddell this afternoon ...

Coyote's a great place to sail. The wind is often the best in the Bay and the windsurf/kitesurf community here is second to none.

What's been misplaced recently is respect for other park users...swimmers, fishermen and beach users in general.

It's up to us to protect our access by respecting access for all users.

Safety is foremost, not only for us but for every park user.

That would really depend on how you define "often" and/or "best".

No problems with the fisherman at Embassy.

It is so strange that if you engage people people with such stunning words such as " hey, was trying to stay way away from your lines, all good?" they turn out for the most part to be a really nice mob, generally more friendly than most windsurfers. Break the ice and all is good.

per Mo, a little respect and good manners go a long way.

Mo,
Unaware of incident Embarassed (or your post, until now). Didn't see or feel any lines but could have been too close. Can't remember the situation but I seldom get that close to the point. There was no intentional disregard of others. Guess this is the way conflicts get started. I'll be more careful in the future.

Fisherman and Windsurfing will never get along. We just scare the fish away anyways.

However, getting caught in their lines when you cannot see them (because they are barely noticeable) is something that just happens sometimes. One should always stay away to a certain range from them and don't get close at all. I have seen arguments between fisherman and windsurfers end really brutal.
