I thought of the dumpster already, but the sails are too good to toss out. Mylar is perfectly clear. some of these never sailed antique cambered gorge sails kept in storage in bay area. I've grown to 235lb and they just will never work for me. any ideas RE donations to windsurf school, dad with small kids, old high wind sailor, antique dealer? sizes from 2.9 to 6.3 rushwinds from about 1993.

That's simple... Do what any respectable windsurfer would do........move to the Gorge where you can use them. Cool

Donate them to Larry Russo aka "The Mayor of Crissy Field." If you cruise down there on a windy day, he is the guy with the black Saab parking next to the bathrooms with about 10 boards piled on the roof.

He will put them to use training the next generation of windsurf babes.

...I'd say toss them. Even though they're 'new', sails have come a long way since then... it's actually a dis-service to a newbie to 'train' them on such ancient and user-unfriendly equipment (cambered three-meter sail?).

I would say go to Craigslist and post an add for FREE WINDSURFING gear. That is how I got rid of some of my 'antique' sails.
Please do not toss them!! Those things will sit in the landfill forever!

I had a couple old small sails that I had hoped my wife would have used (if she ever got into windsurfing, which she didn't Crying or Very sad ). I ended up using them with a skateboard I setup for practicing in light winds. If I trash them on cement or dirt no worries.

Back in the 90's, when Wind 'n Wave was around, someone brought to the store some sails that he/she? converted into big BBQ-aprons. Does anybody remember them? They were really cute and functional. I think it could easily be done if you have the right tools. (UK Sails in Venice could probably fashion anything out of your old sails)

How about making a tent or canopy for the kids to play under? ...or for the dogs? Could be used as an advertising billboard. Imagine driving by someone's lawn with a big sail sticking out of the ground. You could sticker whatever message you wanted on the sail. (Like: "Sails for Sale") Smile It would definitely get attention.

Or you could give them away.... I think it's impossible to sell old stuff anymore.
