It is cranking at LAX (g31)!!? Did a jet fly too close to the sensor or something?

Crazy idea. Ignore the little red dots on the LAX wind charts that indicate gusts. I live a mile from LAX and the gusts (red dots) are not accurate. If you look at the rest of the chart, it shows that it was only 11-12, and then ramped up to about 14 or 15 for awhile. This is accurate. If you look at the purple "average line" and ignore the red dots, you will be in business. It was definitely not gusting 31 MPH. A look at the ocean, and the whitecaps and the palm trees will tell you that indeed it was a disappointing 14-15. Some of my friends get excited every day they see those red dots on the LAX chart, and I have to keep telling them that they are a fluke.
