Dudes and Dudettes,
Not every day do we have a windsurfing movie screening in Hollywood, but on the 15th we have THE Windsurfing Movie.

Have not seen it yet....
Hope it's not just another wave sailing movie with aerial or underwater angles.
Kinda lofty headlines there. I'd like to see some footage of Naish, Waltze, and Matt from '80 in the surf, and some earlier stuff when they started without footstraps.
Plot?
Character history?
Interest?
We know the sailing will be insane.
Hope it's good.

Saw it at Red Bull Headquarters last year. Most of the principals were there. Some history of the sport, great sailing, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This movie has been out for over a year. For pure wavesailing footage from around the world this movie can't be beat! Morocco and Cabo Verde footage is insane. Sailing is insane.
It's a washed-up format though. Best sailers sailing the best spots at the best times to 60s rock like Gimme Shelter. Maybe I've seen this format too many times, but a theme behind it all would have been a big improvement. And where are the women sailors??? The Moreno twins?? Its just too predictable. I mean, how many times can one watch a pro sailer launch himself into oblivion on a double overhead wave? After 10 times, I fell asleep.
Save the gas money and just order it online. A great addition to any video collection.

Interesting venue for a windsurfing movie! Hollywood is my old stomping grounds, so it will feel weird to get into the movie in an area that I associate with an entirely different way of life (that I once fully embraced)...but hey, it sounds like fun.

It's interesting that the description contains the word/number five/5, in that the all-time, 70's classic surf film is none other than "Five Summer Stories". Five sailors, five venues, five Summers. Probably coincidence. Or is it some sort of magical formula, or subliminal marker? Hmm....

5 would be OK.....
1. Wave, CaboVerde of course, as is...
2. Freestyle, top pros, good daze, anywheres...
3. Slalom, latest footage with a walk thru the rigging area with Antoine..
4. Bump and Jump, either Gorge, Sherman, or whereever (Robby at outer Kailua or just W of Hukilau?). RIP'ing.
5. Some current Formula action.

I have the DVD. I bring it with me on trips and watch it on my laptop with noise cancelling headphones. I sit in an aisle seat and have at least 3 or 4 people stop what they're doing and just watch. Once I brought it to my Mother's house in Albuquerque. Put it on the DVD player and her and my sisters sat down and watched it. That would only happen with this title. Sure it's a lot of wave sailing, but the cinemetography is best yet, and the music - "Free Ride", "Gimme Shelter", etc... sure beats the typical angst-ridden, atonal, ear splitting head-banger music in most windsurf/surf/kiteboard videos.
Joe Bob Briggs says "Check it out".

Don't get your hopes up flyski, all the porno films are made in the San Fernando Valley.
