The thing to keep in mind about any damage is that you need to get to the heart of it. That means removing all the damage around the site before even beginning the proper repair strategy. The thing to keep in mind about epoxy, and even Ding Stick, is that it needs a structural (fiber type) element in the mix to form a matrix, and ultimately create strength across a surface. Epoxy by itself has very little strength across an area, even a small one. If you have a crack, it's short sided to just fill it up with epoxy or a filler without fiberglass or carbon to give it integrity and surface strength perpendicular to the direction of the damage.

For any serious repairs (blown fin box, vacuum bag lay up, ) you can drop your board off at the Pearson-Arrow shop in Santa Cruz. Lars Hansen is their repair guy-has years of experience.

Hello everyone...
this is shameless store promotion, yet, our store, Helm in San Mateo, does board repair too!!!

Ask for Greg (thats me) or Steve if you have some large dings from your mast, boom, or the rocks.

We do charge quite a bit, yet we use the vac bag technique with parts from FiberGlass Hawaii.

Normal Nose Dings are tough to estimate, but typically a repair plus paint can run 100 bucks.

If you need to repair your stuff on the fly, Ding Dough/Epoxy stick does work well, however it will not withstand another forceful hit atop it.

Glass has always worked well with our repairs, and this season we have completed around 25 boards dealing with all sorts of issues.

I have been doing repairs for 3 summers now, so if you have any concerns, please let me know...

Besides, arnt we all just trying to go and play in the water longer?
