Lance, I'm really sorry to hear you were sick today and couldn't kite. It was a really nice day out there. I also think you're looking for the i-kitesurf forum (www.ikitesurf.com). This is a windsurfing forum, so oddly enough, its mostly windsurfers that post here. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Trying to pick a fight, or convert people over to kiting, perhaps? How's about this.
Friday I wave sailed H. Bertha swells here in FL on my Kona 11'5 and a 7.5 sail. Wind was 7-11mph, then dropt to 2-6mph. Surfers were amazed that I could wave sail in "now wind." Takes a long board and some thinking outside the box to do what I do in the surf. Several kiters were paddling, prone, surfing too. Who's canceled now? Mainly, the people that don't want to push themselves that far.
Glassy side shore waves head high and bigger. No one wave sailing but me. It was epic indeed.

I think the best wind in the Gorge was at Stevenson on Sunday.
The kiter dudes were all on 7's and 9's there.
I was "lit" on my 5.2 - no wetsuit necessary.
There are photos at www.nwkite.com

The mt biking was great now that the snow is finally off the high trails. It's nice to get out of the sewer now and then and get the legs working.

Could have been better, but it was solid 5.2 from 12-2 and 4-5 at the hatch...Stevenson had more wind (reads high) but less swell...no need for an 11....

"Sick", eh? Funny thing, I talked to some freindly kiters at Home Valley yesterday who had come down from Stevenson, they said wind wasn't so great.. no where close to "epic" scale. Actually, if stoke size matters most, THURSDAY was the best west wind day in the Stevenson corridor all year....
wind averaged 30 shore-to-shore at mid day with warm temps, and if ya knew where to find it, the swell size was quite epic too (I didn't see ANY kiters there). Yep, Thursday was certainly "epic" around Stevenson .
