Crissy has been pretty weak lately, but I've noticed really good patches of wind over by the north tower. I could slog out there, but it seems like it'd be less of a slog from the north.
I've never launched from the Sausalito side and I'm hoping those who have could offer some tips, advice, etc. Where should I park, rig, launch, & land?
Thanks in advance. |

There is a launch in the small marina just north of the bridge. It involves a rock clamber and swim, and I've never done it, but Peter Thorner assures me that it can be done. |

Be sure it's ebbing the full sesh....
Be sure it's NOT NW or W winds....
Get ready to be sandblasted when you rig....
Be aware lots of guys ding their boards getting out...slime on rocks on outgoing tides gets MORE, eh...by the time you come in....
Getting out means from the water...going in most just toss the rig from one of the lower big rocks...
Some KHartz used to sail all the way to the beach, somehow, in really holey breeze, saving his board.
Some MikeW used to come in on the leeside of the rock jetty, but slime crawl is eecky.
Be aware of dying breeze, and don't be last in...better to read it and be first in...
Do not sail over half way towards old GGStation, you might not get back....unless it's really filled in.....
Good most daze when old GGStation is filled in, but not the strongest in those conditions...
Bring sails down to 3.7 for sure....
You're on your own out there, similar to TI, so be responsible for your actions or inactions. |

You could probably pull off the elusive triple from there... _________________ /w\ |

Terrific line, my favorite to date.
I've launched from North Side many times, just clamber down the rocks.
Done it on a flood Ebb and no wind, take your choice.
Also launched from Sausalito waterfront. Igor has named that launch "shitters", need you know more?
I've sailed from the Sausalito waterfront many times, howls through the gulch.
North side is the best fun, especially when it shusdown. |
