I admit, though I work 2 mins from prime, daily wind. I hit it only 2 times during then week. But on weekends I am fully primed for Sat and Sun. Does that define being a Weekend Warrior?
I thought being a weekend warrior meant not changing your underwear until Sunday night, really. |

Sailing 4x/wk makes you a fanatic, not a weekend warrior. Sailing only on the weekends = weekend warrior. |

The far bigger question is why you sail only 4Xweek.
6 kids and no wife?
Radiation treatment for cancer 3Xweek?
Rent your gear?
You meant to say two HOURS?
No swell?
Yer mommy won't let you out of the house more?
You're in college full time?
On the days you DO sail, you sail eight hours?
You get bored repeating every trick known and a few of your own?
There's something more important in your life than planing?
You're 78 years old?
You're 10 and have to bum a ride from your hard-working, NON-SAILING parents?
You get behind in the forum?
Your job is as rewarding as sailing?

I have no idea why the bulletin board is acting up this week. It takes a minute or two for a post to penetrate the "Waiting for Forums" or "Waiting for Ads" message, when it finally works it sometimes double-posts, and then it warns me that I'm trying to re-enter some forbidden zone and may lose data.
Whatever.
SEE?

I think the operative word is "copycat". My "\m/" is the emoticon for the shaka; I don't know what his /m\ is. A scowl, maybe? A kilt for a guy with shortcomings (think about it)?

Seems to me......
We're ALL subject to "weekends", and some amount of limitations whereever and whenever we're trying to impose our windsurfing lives.
Some peeps have Sat/Sun weekends.
Other's have weekday "weekends".
Some don't sail more than 12 days in a row, selfimposing limitations to insure freshness and interest.
Of course, it's governed by our interest levels, physical skills, and mood swings.
Me, I get bored after 6 days in a row, and towards the end of the seasons, maybe 3 days in a row. Sure, I sail when it's windy (about everday thru Spring/Summer/earlyFall), but some sessions only last 1.5 hours of planing, me choosing to go in and leave some wind for the late PM folks.
Me suspects "weekends" will be around forever, for most peeps.... |

Not all of us. The only difference between weekends and weekdays to us unfortunate retired geezers is crowd levels.
And if I ever get bored after 8 hours or 8 days and the wind is still good, somebody please shoot me, 'cause I'm finally too old to windsurf. When I feel bored, it's because:
1. The water is completely flat. I can't fix that so I read a book, caych up on my sleep or eating, or go home.
2. I'm just sailing back and forth (i.e., Sail to Washington. Jibe. Sail to Oregon. Jibe. Sail to Washington. Jibe. Sail to Oregon. Jibe. Sail to Washington. Jibe. Sail to Oregon. Jibe. Sail to Washington. Jibe. Sail to Oregon. Jibe. ... get the picture?), in which case I ramp up the challengees. When I start crashing again, I know I'm having fun. Anyone offering me suggestions to improve my jibing is overlooking one thing: I'm not just trying to turn around; I'm trying to turn around differently ... trying to do things I can't do. Ditto getting back and forth between OR and WA.
That's why I virtually never get bored WSing (or dirt biking, or snowmobiling); there are so DANG many things I can't do that I never get bored (as long as there's terrain underfoot). And because I don't get bored and mistakes aren't as dangerous on water as they are on ski slopes, I try to never let fatigue interfere with sailing. This not only garners more fun today, but also pushes the onset of fatigue ever farther away "tomorrow" through conditioning.
If I had great wind 2 minutes away I believe I'd sail hard every day, as I've done on Maui for 35 straight days and as I did every day the PacNW blew somewhere when I lived in that van down by the river. "Windsurfing" can get boring; pushing my envelope never has.
Tell ya what, guys ... I'll swap you a little bit of stoke for 20 years of youth. I suspect my stoke will far outlast my longevity.
