While I think that the science behind concerns over global warming is very sound and persuasive, we can't draw too many conclusions from particularly intense hurricanes or a particularly warm summer in the Arctic Ocean. Climate is by its very nature chaotic, with daily and seasonal swings of temperature of tens of degrees. In contrast, with global warming, we are looking at pretty accurate trend analysis that shows a 100 year or so trend of an increase of 1 to 1.5 degrees in average temperature. That is not evidence of increased hurricane activity or intensity, but does show up in early budbreak for many plants and subtle ecological changes. Climate, weather, and trends in average temperature are linked, but not the same thing. Chaos rules in the Gulf.

Be very concerned that the Republicans likely VP candidate not only is a climate change denier, but has misrepresented the viewpoints of the Alaskan wildlife staff in suggesting that there is no scientific basis for listing the polar bear as endangered. Skepticism is healthy, lying is another matter.

Cabrillo seems to be affected by an increase in air/sea temps over the last decade or so. Used to be you would look fwd to a hot shower after being in 62 F water/65 F air for a couple of hrs in July/August. Now you're sweating in a shorty and forgot that they're are even hot showers. I remember days in August when the cold water would well up and my feet would be numb, place is a spa now w/o the the high wind summer days..............

From 91 to 97 every August prodused 20-25 / 30 days of solid 20knts.

Thermals depend on dry Air. Moisture acts as a heat sink. Air does not rise and no Thermal develops.


Gulf water temps are 90F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to Leo History and look up before 1996 august it will blow your mind.

I learnen to windsurf in Santa Cruz 1985 . That spring it blew 117 days in a row of in the footstraps of my old Pat Taylor and 54Sqfoot Sail!

While I have to seriously question 5-7 days of 30 knots in Southern California, I have to admit that SoCal wasn't the place to be this Summer.

What I hate are skyhigh gas prices and nothing happening relatively close.

Needless to say, the SF Bay area has been styling for almost the whole seasonal picture now. Frankly, I'm more than envious. We did have a fairly good Spring though in Santa Barbara. Not super special, but a good number of reasonably solid days.

Hey, who knows, Fall might be awesome.

It has been freezing accross the globe. Snow in NW, Rockies, China and Australia. Water at leo never got above 68 degrees this summer. Very early winter and this is one example.
