Brush fire burning in Hood River right now. Looks to have originated near the Jaymar underpass on the north side of I-84, burning through the woods above the Hook.

Its hot and dry and the wind is blowing about 25. Not good.

Update: the fire is burning in a 20 acre wedge of woods north of I-84 and south of the railway tracks. There are no buildings in this area, but the fire looks to have jumped the railway tracks to the north side, along the south side of the Hook basin.

KATU has a live feed running and it looks like a train is stopped in that area and a railcar, or maybe a stash of railway ties is on fire. I-84 is closed right now in both directions.

That fire was stopped by HRFD, Westside, and the rest of the crew a mere 8 feet from my back door. My heartfelt thanks (and fresh-baked cookies) goes out to all the firefighters. Thank you so much!
