Heading out this morning at 7. It's blowing. Yesterday afternoon was another disappointment. |

Well we did it.
I swear (sometimes too much) that my day started last midnight. First the wind picked, blowing the shades and flexing the screens, then kid nightmares and kid 1/2 sleep walking, then getting wound up with al the wind.
By the time I to CC's Kalmus, at 9:30, the frigg'n wind had already backed off to 6.0 conditions.
Pretty much strapped in for a somewhat abbrevated but full session.
At one point I knew the wind was up enough to be fully locked in, but was slogging. I had a small bush wrapped around the "prop". Usually on the big days there you can shed the weeds.
My adopted "old man", Bruce, showed me that I've got at least 20 more years of sailing. 45+ years of back and forth - the sad thing is I think my limited mental capacity is OK with that concept.
Having a crowd to sail with raised the score from a C to a B.
Good Night, RC |

Interesting report, Ron. It was rather gusty yesterday morning with long lulls as predicted. Arriving at the shore at 8, I took a meter reading that showed an average around 18 or 19 m.p.h. with one spike to 27 but a lot of readings down around 14. Another windsurfer showed up with a meter which confirmed my readings. We sailed with some rather spectacular blasting, but much of the time we were slogging. There was weed in the water. I had to pull some strands of eel grass off of my board. The wind moved over to the West around 10. I quit around 11 and another windsurfer showed up with a windmeter. It had backed off somewhat, but it was still blowing in the teens. |
