My mast base broke sailing W Dennis and the rig sank- had to paddle back. The rig consists of an old (late 90s) Fiberspar mast, an old HPL carbon boom and a Naish Noa 6.0 sail plus Chinook base. If any of this washes up on the beach and is found, please contact me at protagonist@myway.com.

Thanks.

Michael

That Labrador Current is kicking pretty hard these days, with all the NE wind we've been getting! We'll keep our eyes open down here in Hatteras, too! Wink

Had the same experience on Lake Erie about 20yrs ago. New mast, booms, and sail. The extention pins hadn't fully engaged and when I went for a water start the mast seperated from the board and eventully the mast filled with water and sank. I was about a mile off shore in about 15ft of water . I bumbed a ride in a small plane to see if I could locate it but it was long gone.

Is that relevant, Dawg? We have all had that kind of an experience or we shouldn't be posting here. I wonder, though, if something lost in the Nantucket sound might not wind up in Davey Jone's locker.

Of course it's relevant, Chuckles. It's called empathy. You might try it sometime.

Brucie, do you think we'd be lucky enough to send the at 19 Glory Lane to Davy Jones's locker?

Gees, haven't heard the term relevent in years. The sail I lost with that rig was a NP WarpSpeed 7.7. Lost track of all the hours I spent on that type of sail. Pulled like a tractor and at a certain windspeed just slamed me into the water.

Hey, 4th day in a row at the OBX with 20-30+......
