Castaic presenting opportunity today, for those who like to brave a bit more chill, park fees, and winds that can be a bit flukey. Just keep your eye out for the guardian, he likes tender windsurfer flesh. Looks down on them like you do to your martini olive, even picks his jaws with the mast when he's through. BTW: I thought I saw Todd in the last picture? Hmm....?

Do people still sail there? I'd like to take my son. Are santa anas the best, or southwest?

I have been able to put sharks out of my mind for the most part while sailing, but, Q dude, I draw the line at giant, Roger Corman man eating spiders!

Giant spiders have been the main reason that I don't sail up at Castaic anymore. I understand that the lower lagoon is a virtual nursery. When they hatch, they're everywhere! My, my, my, said the spider to the fly.....

Is that you Todd?

wow! I sailed there both upper and lower for almost 10 years!!! used to love to sail there, never saw one of these. Is this new? result of second hand smoke? SantaAnas are great there to bad the sailor is SO discouraged from THE venue there....It used to be so family oriented to sailing...what is now per board...24.00....? and spiders! have they at least opened up the upper lake to windsurfing yet!!

Last two days have been rockin on the lower lagoon! 5.3 to 5.8 average wind 25 with higher gusts. We get alot of klller days you just have to be paitent somtimes. Parking lot #5 is the sweet spot to launch from in the swimers off season. This is also a friendly place to launch kites. Just check the web site at castaiclake.com view the lower lagoon map.
