The forecast still looks good to me. I'm thinking about going to the lighthouse in Chatham. It's supposed to be warmer there than in Boston or R.I. and E to SE is pretty good there, although it might be choppy on the inside. The tide will be going out until around 2:00, I think. Have you ever sailed there?
E wind is a funny direction. Do you have any favorite spots for E? _________________ http://waterloggedbyscooper.blogspot.com/ |

Never sailed there but heard about many times. Well. Don’t now any others place where I’ve been when E except Boson area and Rivera beach.
Maybe it’s time to go to new place.
You are saying ‘The tide will be going out until around 2:00’ is it good or bad?;>)
When are you planning to be there?

Usually it's better with outgoing tide because it blows against the wind, makes the wind feel stronger, easy to go upwind etc. But you can sail there with either tide. The incoming tide makes it feel safer because you can't get pulled out in the event of equipment breakdown.
I'm planning on getting there around 10:00 or 11:00, asssuming that the forecast still looks good and the driving isn't terrible. If it's nice I'll probably sail until sunset or when my body gives out, whichever happens first.
I'd love to have some company but I don't want to convince anyone to sail there unless they really want to. It has the reputation of being a dangerous spot. Of course, this time of year, any spot can be intense, especially if the wind gets as strong as they are forecasting for tommorrow.
Here's some info from a local sailor that knows the spot a lot better than I do-

I don't think Kalmus is going to be very good in E wind. the wind comes across Great Island, probably pretty gusty. The wind at the cut will be unobstructed. Chatham Harbor/Scatteree Landing might be O.K. in E for a more protected spot, or West Dennis Beach. _________________ http://waterloggedbyscooper.blogspot.com/ |
