I am travelling to the Florida Keys and want to know the car camping situ along the highway (i.e. beaches, boat launches, rest areas, etc.) or if it's totally out of the question.

I want to do some backcountry sailing, snorkelling, etc. with no hassle.

Any info?

Mila

Really good on-the-water campsites, like Bahia Honda State Park in the lower keys, may require reservations up to 1 year ahead of time. But you could probably camp at less scenic campgrounds and drive to the good sailing beaches. I'm not sure exactly which campgrounds and sailing sites to recommend, though, since my experience in the keys is limited. I would try looking at the Florida State Parks website, and if you can't find what you need there then do a google search for private campgrounds. Let us know what you find out.

Yeah I want to do the same thing. I want to go park near a beach somewhere out there, setup my tent nearby, get a little fire going and jus sleep there for the night. I wouldn't recommend it for the summer because its hot and humid but winter or early spring is great. I'm sorry I can't help but if you find out any info can you please let me know? I definitely want to do that.
