Hi, any suggestions for a culturally interesting place to go that includes good windsurfing and/or good waves in the month of July? Traveling from San Francisco. Need 18-20 knots to be fun. Thanks, WB

not sure about windsurfing tourists but there are lots of great options for windsurfing in Greece. Lefkada in the Ionian (mainly brits), Crete, Naxos, Paros, Karpathos, Rhodes etc. Just do a google search on the island name + windsurfing and you'll find the full service windsurfing stations.
I've not been to Freak Surf in Crete - but if you want a relatively remote location with awesome wind it seems to fit the bill. If you want party life pick Naxos, Paros or Rhodes (not Prassonisi which is quite remote) - although you don't have to be a party person in those locales but there will be more options.

Hood River not culturally interesting enough?

I've been to Naxos and it was very nice. Good windsurf center, close to town, very nice island - a bit less busy than some of the other Cycladic islands. I've heard that Paros (just across the way from Naxos) is pretty similar.

Are any of the Carib islands windy in the summer and not so hot as Florida?
