Just wondering when the written forecasts are going to start again?
Also why is the Computer Forecast Model Data so off? It totally missed the wind at Berkeley yesterday and today it says 8 knots at 4pm, but the sensor is reading 22 knots!!!!
Makes me wonder what the subscription pays for! Any info or views on a better way of predicting the wind? |

I think the human forecasts start April 1.
Local winds are probably pretty tough to model. I've found those Meteogram forecasts to be a little bit useful for Crissy, and actually have been impressed with them in terms of finding out when a wind event is coming when the NOAA isn't predicting it yet. But, for Crissy at least, the numbers need translation-- 30 knots on the meteogram means 20-25 at the beach.
In any case, I use both NOAA and the Meteogram. The NOAA link is below. Lots of people seem to like the "M5 model." Not sure what/where it is, but I'm sure you can Google it.

I'll be out of town for a couple of weeks, so you're guaranteed good wind every day until I'm back on the 7th.

Forecasts are here!
Make sure to click "show" on the metereologist forecasts section in your MyIW if you had it collapsed during winter. |

I don't even look at any forecasts until the river temp hits 45 degrees. It saves me a whole winter of useless angst.
Two more degrees plus a day hitting 60.

When do the Socal forecasts start? Yesterday (3/28/09) was awesome at Cabrillo, but the model tables and NOAA had no inkling of any wind in the forecast. |
