I hate 2 throw out something so vague, but I'm willing 2 take my chances. I am in Maui 4 a few weeks and windsurfing is all I have on my agenda. I worked @ a resort about 5 years ago where I learned to windsurf and of course fell in love with the sport and have longed 4 it since! I left the Caribbean 2 take care of family responsibilities and then ended up back in the mountains snowboarding (which I have been doing 4 10+ years). I guess I didn't plan very well or perhaps I was hoping someone would magically steer me in da right direction; regardless, I am hoping someone can offer some equipment advice. I'm renting a car and hope 2 fill it with a board and 2 sails. I was just working on my water start when last atop a board...
Any advice will be appreciated.
Praying 4 wind...

Make sure to ask for a discount. Take a water start lesson from Allen Cadiz at hst. It doesn't look like winds will pick up on Maui until Friday or Saturday.

Hot Sails Maui is the first place you reach driving away from Kanaha launch. They will endlessly trade gear with you if you rent from them. Other shops aren't far but they are far enough that few people stop in session to go exchange and come back.
If you know your gear you can buy sails in a free publication called the Bulliten sp? for under $100. Boards under $300 are often found on the guard railing at Kanaha along with cheap other gear. It doesn't hurt to look at the junk gear abandoned often at the dumpster there.
I took a slalom board from there, gave it to guy at the end of summer, and he sold on the rail later for $100.
