I'll explain the "I" bit again.
If one is giving advice, s/he starts with, "You should ...".
If one simply offering an idea or alternative for others' consideration, s/he starts with, "I ...".
"You should ..." => "you're wrong"; "I ..." => "Here's another option."
I'm asked several times a day, "What sail should I rig?"
How the heck should I know? Thus my answer is, "I'm rigging a 4.2.". I might add that "I like a lot of power" or "I'm on a total sinker", but the one thing I won't say is, "You should rig a 4.2".
Dan Weiss says most people use 40-something fins and wide boards [presumably in race mode] with 6.x sails. I mentioned that [I and a bud] use MUCH smaller fins and smallish wave boards with our 6.x sails in slash'n'bash mode. Isn't that much more accurate and sociable than saying "You should ..." -- which is not true, as there are very few "shoulds" in this sport -- and doesn't it expand, rather than narrow, readers' options?

I wasn't trying to "stick it to her", just explaining my rationale for the "I" choice ... and adding a little tit for tat at the end. I didn't follow "The Darcy Chronicles" last year far enough to conclude whether she deserves retribution, and would guess that she got plenty last year anyway.
