Any body know about any Government water testing, findings, or proposed federal cleanups? I mean this River Nose thing is somewhat scary and that’s just a general term for water borne sicknesses. I have heard many people speak of various illnesses associated with spending time in the water of the Columbia River. I think many people also know about all the chemicals and garbage in the river as well. It’s kind of funny that the government tests water in the faster running currents, like below Bonneville Dam. They have avoided tests and findings from behind the dams. There also not testing all sediments. We all know the Columbia is sick, does anyone know what agencies are pushing for federal cleanups and law changes? Something more can be done…….right???

Columbia Riverkeeper is probably the best source of info on the Columbia River.

Dude, it's all about the money. PGE Boardman dumps the worst of the heavy metals into the environment and it ends up in the Columbia River. It's not known exactly how much mercury PGE contributes to our playground because nobody monitors the output, especially since most goes up into the atmosphere and then falls as acid rain.

Nobody creates much fuss because if they were to close PGE Boardman, PGE electric bills would rise. As long as majority of Oregon folks feel secure in the fact that the polution is being dumped in someone else's backyard and not their own backyard, this problem will continue to get worse.

Any unclean -- i.e., non-drinking -- water shoved into our sinuses can cause an infection in the dark recesses of our skulls. When in doubt or if a problem is obvious, I flush my sinuses with $10 sinus squeeze-bottle flush kits from the drugstore. Simple, cleansing, refreshing, effective, preventive.

Ha! RE: "...the dark recesses of our skulls."

Yeah, I think there is still some "un-holy" Columbia River water up there from 1982! Laughing
