Does anyone have any suggestions for tomorrow? I didn't get my fill for Father's day and am taking tomorrow off.
Anyone hitting Point Judith (can we launch from Scarborough?)
How's Ned's point in a NNE?
Please let me know...

Neds us great with any southern direction. Great swells in a good SE blow. NW is OK with the wind coming down the harbor except that it is an offshore direction so if you break down, it's a long walk from Falmouth. Also NW has large periods of lulls that may make it tough to get back to the launching site. Strong easterly winds can be good in that the water is very flat as it comes over fairly flat land but again, if you break down it could be a pain. NE is directly offshore and comes over significant land so it doesn't get windly for a long ways out and getting back in would be problematic. So, NE and N are pretty much Neds worst directions.
Everyone worries about rocks with Neds. There are 2 large rocks that are mostly very visable at half tide and below. They are off to the sides of the launch so if you just come in straight you've got about a 50 yard wide safe shot into shore. Mostly it could be a problem with high tide when the rocks are hidden. At very low tide there are some small rocks that could be hit when taking off or if you slog in and have a long fin. |
